Mission Trips

UniPlace is a congregation that believes in putting our beliefs into action.  Mission trips are an integral part of the UniPlace outreach. Our next trip will be to offer our assistance to the the Katrina damaged Lake Charles, Louisiana area.

Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries - Bayview, TX - Uniplace has send several teams of adults and students to the Texas/Mexico border to repair homes and provide assistance to the orphanage.

Costa Rica - The Youth Group traveled  to Costa Rica to learn about another culture and to better understand poverty. They helped to repair a church and worshipped with its Spanish-speaking congregation.

Woodhaven Learning Center - Columbia MO - Woodhaven helps adults with developmental disabilities to live in their own homes as active members of the community. UniPlace sent a team of adults and children for a weekend mission trip to meet the people of Woodhaven and to do some home repairs and landscaping.

Disciples Mission Station - Lake Charles, LA - The youth mission group traveled to Louisiana to do hurricane clean-up, including the repairs of homes damaged by Hurricane Rita several years before. 

Humane Borders - Tuscon, AZ - This was a spring break mission trip for our young adults and students. Human Borders' mission is to provide a humane and just border environment. Volunteers work together to provide humanitarian assistance to those risking their lives and safely crossing the border.

Urban Immersion Service Retreat Minneapolis, MN - Urban Immersion Service Retreats combine an overview of poverty and its causes with hands-on help for those in need. The trip featured an interactive exercise about the survival choices homeless and working-poor families must make each month.

Heifer International Project - Perryville, AR - Heifer International offers a powerful global education experience at its Learning Center at Heifer Ranch. Each program introduces participants to the idea that one person can make a difference in ending hunger and poverty. The Youth Group spent a week at the Learning Center.
