How We Serve
Reaching Out Through Outreach
The mission statement of UniPlace includes the statement that we seek to "reach out to our neighbors in Christian witness." Reaching out requires learning about the needs and concerns of our neighbors. Outreach Weekends bring guests who share their work, such as Reverand Filiberto Pereira, of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries,
to refugees in Los Fresnos, Texas.
Bill and Belinda Bell shared with us about their work in the Yakama Nation, White Swan, Washington. We've heard from national leaders such as Amy Gopp, Executive Director of Week of Compassion, and from Mark Palmer about the ministry of the Woodhaven Learning Center, in Columbia, MO.
The Kyles shared with us about their ministry in South Africa. But learning about the needs and ministries, globally, nationally, and locally is only the first step. The next step is to become involved and to reach out actively. We have sent teams to work on weekend ministries at Woodhaven Learning Center.

Folks of all ages have made many gallons of soup for the local men's and women's shelters. We have collected clothes for local angencies.
We have sent a work team to repair a small house in Brownsburg, Texas. On some Sundays, we have soup luncheons which bring together homeless of our community and UniPlace members.
Reaching out can be done in many ways. Out of our concern for those who labor in unfair conditions we are participating in a fair trade program which promotes justice for farm laborers. The coffee used for our Sunday morning coffee hour and for our fellowship dinners is purchased through this program.
