Scheduless
Each week, the offerings of the congregation help carry out the ministry of University Place Christian Church. Materials are purchased, staff is paid, programs are planned, basic upkeep is done, and ongoing repairs are completed through these regular offerings.
But there are special situations which call for special funds:
  • Some needs arise which are large and unexpected.
  • Some ongoing needs eat away too much of the weekly offering, handicapping the full ministry of the church.
  • Some people have a desire to give through the church in a lasting way, a way that continues to give through the years.
  • Some funds make it possible to attempt large projects without hindering other ministries.
For this reason, the trustees of the church are providing you with this information so that you might exercise your own stewardship in a lasting and important way. If you have further questions or would appreciate counsel, contact either the pastors or a member of the trustees of the church.

Capital Improvement Fund
Gifts to this fund are applied toward the church property. The money is available and may be used for immediate and emergency needs such as property improvements or repairs. The money can also be applied toward building projects that need to be done. Donors have the opportunity to specify exactly what the money is used for in this fund.

Century II Fund
Gifts to this fund make up what is called a cash reserve. The money is used to supplement other funds in emergency situations. This fund is available during times of critical expenses so that the ministry of the church is ongoing.
(Both of these funds, Capital Improvement and Century II, have an optional restriction that can be applied to any gift on the request of the donor. This restriction allows only the earned interest made from the gift to be used. The actual gift is permanent and cannot be used. This allows the donor to give a gift that keeps on giving.)

The Utility Fund
Gifts to this fund aid in paying the utility cost of the church. The actual gifts are not used, but the income earned in the form of interest is used. The ultimate goal is for this fund to cover the complete utility costs and not need to be supplemented by the weekly offering.

Ministerial Scholarship Fund
Gifts to this fund aid and support staff members and students who are engaged in religious training. It is used to develop the ministry and improve their ministerial ability, efficiency, effectiveness, expertise, and capability.

Memorial Fund
Donations to this fund go toward replacing or purchasing visible objects the church needs. The items can be worship aids, equipment, furniture, machines or office supplies. The donations are usually made in memory of someone or some event. They may be designated for a specific use, or may be used at the discretion of the Memorial Committee.

Paul Pettinga Organ Fund
Donations to this fund cover costs of extensive repair, replacement of parts, and maintenance of the sanctuary organ. The organ is an important and yet costly aid in our worship. Donations are needed in addition to funds raised during fund drives.
